A Closer Look at Gamevy
Co-founder and Chairman Paul Dolman-Darrall has more than twenty years of business experience, both within the gaming industry and elsewhere. His wider commercial background working on developing retail brands such as Gap and John Lewis has stood him in good stead and enabled him to hit the ground running with his newer venture.
Indeed, he has already guided his tight knit team toward constructing successful games in several different areas within the gaming sector. Gamevy already designed and launched successful formats of Bingo, Keno, Lottery, Slots and other instant games such as scratch cards.
One of the factors in this rapid success has been the company’s partnership with a similarly sized German company called Gluck Games. Gluck are a similarly sized outfit with its headquarters situated in Berlin. Founded in 2015, the Germans’ innovation and energy has melded well with the British outfit’s experience and commercial know how.
In fact, so successful has this partnership been that the relationship was recently formalised. In October 2018 the pair announced an official merger, forming a new company known as Gluck Group, with Gamevy’s Dolman-Darrell appointed as the new Group CEO. The board is constructed from both former companies, with Gamevy co-founders Dan Rough and Helen Walton, and Gluck’s Robert Lenzhofer, Arvind Upadhyay and Rafael Razim all featuring in prominent roles.
The group retained all staff under the terms of the merger, with the new entity continuing to operate all its original games studios. These are located in in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the United Kingdom and Bilbao in Spain, in addition to the two companies’ original headquarters in London and Berlin. The total workforce of the newly formed company is around fifty.
The restructure has resulted in a re-branding though, with the UK based Gamevy dropping its previous name in favour of the revised trademark G Group.
The company’s wide variety of games are already widely available via a broad range of platforms and casinos. This means that they can be played on many casinos licenced for the UK and European markets. Indeed, the newly created entity is going from strength to strength. Gluck Group games already produce more than £1 billion per year in revenue at the time of writing. This resulted in profits for its licenced gaming partners in excess of £100 million for the current year. The company is on target to post consistent growth figures of around 25% per year too.
Gamevy Games
Many similarly sized rivals within the gaming industry would be content to concentrate on just one area of games. Indeed, most do tend to focus on slots, with perhaps a few basic traditional table games thrown in for good measure. Yet this is neither the Gamevy nor the Gluck Group strategy at all.
Gamevy do produce slots, but they are by no means the priority, and in fact the five reel spin format was one of the more recent additions to the company’s output. Cheeky Fruits is a relatively recent addition to the company’s range. This retro style title will be attractive to many players who feel pangs of nostalgia for this classic form of slot.
The majority of the company’s efforts are directed elsewhere though. Perhaps the area which Gamevy is most renowned is its online versions of many officially licenced brands. It is particularly strong at converting TV gameshow formats for online gaming. Its blockbuster Lotto games clearly demonstrate this, with The Boss Lotto and their version of the classic worldwide TV franchise Who Wants to be a Lotto Millionaire. Their version of The Heist game show is also turning into a smash hit online.
There are some excellent Bingo and Keno formats too, so Gamevy are an excellent choice for players who prefer the more traditional approach to gaming. It can surely be only a matter of time before the company produced online versions of Bridge, Cribbage and Shove Ha’penny for us to play.
The company’s varied selection of games is rounded off with an impressive range of other instant games, such as Scratch Cards. There are a total of around half a dozen titles in the Gamevy locker, of which perhaps Diamond Deal is the most popular.
